Group Köprü Brought Cultures Together Through the Same Melody on the Festival Stage
Performing for the first time at the 27th International Istanbul Büyükçekmece Culture and Art Festival, Group Köprü presented a special evening where melodies transcended borders and cultures came together through music.
As part of the festival organized in cooperation with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and Büyükçekmece Municipality, Group Köprü took the stage at the Kültürpark Kemal Sunal Amphitheatre, bringing together melodies from different languages, cultures and geographies. With their original interpretations and rich repertoire, the group received great appreciation from art lovers.
A Universal Musical Journey from East to West
Taking its name from one of the symbols of Büyükçekmece, the Kanuni Sultan Süleyman Bridge, the unique masterpiece of Mimar Sinan, Group Köprü draws its inspiration from the universal understanding of peace that the festival has embraced for many years. Founded under the leadership of the Mayor of Büyükçekmece, Dr. Hasan Akgün, the group received great acclaim with its distinctive performance, bringing together different cultures through the universal language of music. The group's extensive repertoire, consisting of works in Turkish, Azerbaijani, Greek, Spanish, Persian and Arabic, featured songs of peace and freedom that have left their mark on world music, as well as distinguished interpretations reflecting the cultural richness of the Mediterranean, the Middle East, the Caucasus and Latin America. Bringing together melodies from different geographies on the same stage, Group Köprü took the audience on a musical journey across cultures. At the end of the concert, plaques were presented to the members of Group Köprü by the Acting Mayor of Büyükçekmece, Hakan Çebi, and H. Gürhan Ozanoğlu, Co-President of FIDAF and Vice Chairman of the Festival Committee.
